A wooden front porch is the stage capturing this theatrical short story of Ann, the love that got away, and a heart so broken, it has not healed and seemingly cannot do so decades later.
Ann wears her sorrow like a burning salve against her skin, constantly sharing it with other porch visitors Cliff and Chayonne, and telling it for the first time to the teenaged Sugar who gets a kick out of the stories recounted on the porch.
