This weekend marks a new month, with fall in full swing, and a time change when we turn our clocks back tonight.⏰

On episode #71 today - and for the entire month of November - we are focusing on Ayurveda and the self-care habits and routines that can help us navigate this time change as well as the more challenging month of November.

Along with the drop in light and dreary, cold weather that November brings, we are faced today with a time change that will have our bodies feeling even more out of balance.😖

This is where your Ayurveda toolbox becomes extremely important!☝️

For me, Ayurveda makes me feel normal. It helps me understand my body and my physical, mental and emotional responses to the world around me.

And, perhaps most importantly, it encourages me to cut myself some slack!❤️

That’s why I want you to use it to help yourself with 3 simple steps:

  1. Adjust your schedule📝
  2. Work on your sleep hygiene😴
  3. Get outside🍂

Adjust your schedule by beginning to notice the things that are and are not working for you.

For instance, you may have been spending the spring and summer meditating on your front porch in the mornings or reading a book📖 on the patio with a glass of wine after dinner.

But one morning you walk outside for your meditation practice and immediately get driven back inside by the biting wind and frosty air.🥶

Or, perhaps tonight, you step out onto the patio for your nightly read and realize that it’s darker than it was last week and you can’t even see👀 the pages in your book anymore.

Instead, you might decide to meditate in a warm Epsom salts bath💆🏼‍♀️ or read your book in your favorite cozy chair by the fireplace.

Work on your sleep hygiene by adjusting your wakeup time (which can, in turn, help you achieve step 3😉).

Of course, getting up earlier probably means going to sleep earlier, which means starting your sleep routine earlier.

So you might need to slink into a warm bath at 7 instead of 8 so that you have time to meditate, read or listen to your favorite podcast and be in bed🥱 by 10 instead of 11 or 11:30.

This shift will take advantage of the darkness that comes with the time change and allow you to be an early(er) riser so that you can enjoy the morning sunshine.

So get outside!

Soak in all the beautiful morning rays🌞 as much as you can.

That serotonin is going to give back in the form of melatonin later in the day to help you wind down and let go into sleep at that earlier hour.

You will start to notice how everything is connected.🤝

✔️Make notes, ✔️try new things, ✔️re-try old things.

If getting up early doesn’t work for you … don’t do it!

Or take your brisk morning walk in the sunshine.

Or sit by the fire pit in your slippers with a cup of tea before bed.

Explore your options and embrace your individual process!🤗
