Welcome to Tilly At Home with Nick Compton Nick, is former English Test and First Class cricketer. who played for Middlesex and Somerset, representing England in 16 test matches. The grandson of legendary English cricketer Dennis Compton, Nick was born and raised in South Africa before moving at 15 to England on a cricket scholarship to pursue his dreams. Travelling extensively throughout his 20-year cricket career, Nick captured some iconic behind the scenes photographs and stunning shots of the wildlife and communities of the amazing countries he played in. Nick’s talent in photography has seen him exhibit at the Maddox gallery in London and recently receive recognition as the current Directors Pick at the Saatchi, online exhibition The Other Art Fair.

On this episode Nick talks about some of his amazing achievements in cricket and the pressures and high and lows of playing professional sports and how he had to manage anxiety at times during his career. Nick talks about the issues sports professional face in transitioning from the structured environment of elite sport and the importance of finding new careers and passions. We also chat about his experience in media, how he successfully presented several cricket shows and how his creativity and desire to make connections combined with his talent for photography and up bring in Africa, are enabling him to forge a successful career in photography and create an opportunity to delve into the world of fine art.
