Czech, Italian, & Spanish Whiskies
Manage episode 428901642 series 2827891
The Czech Republic is small whisky producing country, the only Czech whisky on the market is Hammer Head, distilled at the now-closed Pradlo distillery before the fall of communism.
Italian, and Spanish whiskies are often lesser-known in the whisky world, but they can offer unique and fascinating flavor profiles.
Italy's whisky scene is smaller but still worth exploring, with PUNI Distillery producing whiskies that blend traditional Italian flavors with Scottish methods.
Spain, meanwhile, has a long history of sherry production, which lends itself well to whisky-making; distilleries like Jerez-based González Byass and Madrid-based Makers Mark offer a range of sherried whiskies that are worth trying. There are a handful of whisky-producing distilleries in Spain, of which the best known is Destilerias Y Crianza del Whisky, established in Segovia in 1958, and today owned by Beam Suntory. There are five whiskies in the range: a no-age-statement blended whisky, along with five- and eight-year-olds; Pure Malt and Single Malt
In this episode, we talk about Czech, Italian, and Spanish whiskies.
