On today's episode of Yours Mentally we talk about intergenerational trauma. This episode is in conversation with Nyamat Chadha who is an M.A. in Clinical Psychology.
We begin the episode by talking about what intergenerational trauma is and Nyamat gives an example of it as well.
We then go on to talk about how intergenerational trauma different from general trauma and whether it has worse effects on the person.
We also discuss what are some signs that there is inter generational trauma in a family and also discuss whether inter generational trauma only pass on from parents to their biological children or can it pass through another familial relationship.
We then go on to discuss what kind of trauma can pass onto children from the parents and what effect does it have on children.
Nyamat then talks about how people can heal from the trauma before deciding to parent and how they should know that they have healed?
Lastly Nyamat talks about how can one consciously break this cycle of intergenerational trauma.
