Getting ghosted is great. If great suddenly means the absolute worst. As much as we wish we could be eternally unbothered, always in our most confident state, completely incapable of feeling small or rejected...it happens to the best of us. Falling for someone can be a high like no other- full of mystery, intrigue, butterflies, and anticipation. And if it doesn't work out, especially when the person, uh, vanishes, the fallout can be more than we ever bargained for. In this episode, Minji gets vulnerable sharing a (now) funny story about getting rejected and ghosted by a cute boy. She unpacks some of the deep insecurities that came to light in the aftermath, the underlying beliefs that she's carried around rent-free for most of her life, and how she's taken this painful as an important lesson in self-love and healing her mental health by changing her story.

Mentioned in this episode:

Listen to Inheriting from LAist & NPR

"Inheriting" is a show about Asian American and Pacific Islander families, which explores how one event in history can ripple through generations. In doing so, the show seeks to break apart the AAPI monolith and tell a fuller story of these communities. In each episode, NPR’s Emily Kwong sits down with one family and facilitates deeply emotional conversations between their loved ones, exploring how their most personal, private moments are an integral part of history. Through these stories, we show how the past is personal and how to live with the legacies we’re constantly inheriting. New episodes premiere every Thursday.
