In Episode 8 of Vision & Graft I'm sharing part 2 of the conversation I had with director and all round creative, Jack Howard. You can find links to some of his work that we discuss at the bottom of this page. If you haven't heard Part 1 of our conversation be sure to listen back to it in episode 7.Jack currently hosts a podcast on Amazon Prime called the screen test, is one half of comedy duo Jack & Dean, hosts a podcast with film buff Mark Kermode and directs music videos and commercials amongst many other things. His multi faceted creative approach is great proof that a successful creative career can be very varied and that we need not stay in our lanes. It always inspires me to hear him speak. In this episode we pick up where we left off in Part 1 with Jack sharing what guides him when prioritising between his various creative endeavours. We also consider the concept known as 'essentialism' as opposed to perfectionism and how taking this approach can help us to move forward in our careers and with our work more effectively. We discuss Jack's approach to his wellbeing and the things that he does to help, particularly as society is reopening in the UK after Covid. Jack shares his motivation behind his creative work as I push him to find out what it is that gives him his creative spark and the impressive drive that i’ve always admired in himFinally we discuss what success is to Jack and he flips the question back at me before we get onto my slightly controversial interpretation of Singing in the Rain, the song by Gene Kelly. Vision & Graft aims to inspire action, give hope and normalise the discussion of mental wellbeing within creative sectors as well as more widely throughout society. ---Sci Fi & Depression - Jack Howard | Link Calva Louise Tiranito - Music Video dir.
