Damon Johnson joins us this week for a discussion of his incredible career. At the present time, Damon has his hands full with Black Star Riders and his upcoming solo album Memoirs of an Uprising.

Damon Johnson really brings it in this long-form talk with some great stories from his career and life. From Brother Cane's early days opening for such legends as Van Halen, Aerosmith and Robert Plant among others. Additionally, Damon shares his memories of Brother Cane navigating a shifty musical tide in the 1990's.

Damon's post-Brother Cane career has taken many twists and turns. Collaborations with Sammy Hagar, Faith Hill, Damn Yankees, Carlos Santana, and Slave to the System (featuring members of Queensryche) show the range of talent in his arsenal.

In 2004, Damon Johnson was brought into the Alice Cooper band. In this conversation, he shares his memories of getting the gig, his relationship with Alice, and what he's learned from his time in the band.

2011 saw Damon get to live out another childhood dream as he joined Thin Lizzy. Touring under that banner, he formed a strong chemistry with guitarist Scott Gorham and singer Ricky Warwick. The seeds for Black Star Riders were planted.

Ultimately, Black Star Riders would take the Thin Lizzy spirit and breathe life into a well-oiled machine; releasing three solid albums of material. As of 2018, the catalog, including All Hell Breaks Loose, The Killer Instinct, and Heavy Fire, has built a devoted global fan base.

Aside from band work with living legends, Damon has a great catalog of solo material. His first album, Dust, was released in 2000. Release would come along in 2010 and Echo in 2016. A live album, Birmingham Tonight, represents 2017 for Damon Johnson.

For 2018, Damon has set his sights on another solo album. Memoirs of an Uprising is being funded through Pledge Music. As of this episode release, the project is 87% funded with a deadline two weeks away. Decibel Geek really wants to help push this project over the finish line and we'd like YOUR help.
