Trigger warning: This episode mentions sexual assault and rape

In this solo podcast episode, I share about my experience of navigating PTSD related to sexual assault, why I stayed quiet for almost 20 years, and what helped me heal.

A few of the key things I focus on include:

-The importance of blood sugar balance in stress response

-Foods with specific compounds that help promote a healthier stress response and healing

-Nurturing the gut-brain connection

I initially wrote about my experience for mindbodygreen's Invisible Illness series. You can check it out here.

I talk in this episode about menta health support for those suffering from PTSD related to sexual assault. If you're looking for options, your insurance provider’s website can be a good starting place, and there are also companies offering virtual mental health services as well at varying price points to make therapy more accessible. You can also access the National Sexual Assault Hotline for 24/7 support.

If you know of someone who would benefit from hearing this, please share it.
