Veronica Garnett MS RD joins the show to talk about the realities of her experiences as a fat, black dietitian. Veronica is a Health at Every Size® (HAES), fat-positive, and culinary dietitian and has worked with various vulnerable populations such as folks with food insecurity, substance abuse, and chronic conditions such as HIV/AIDS. We talked about what things aren’t often considered as we try to diversify the nutrition field, her career path, and how to be more culturally competent. Real talk: Veronica shares her own lived experiences with racism and oppression within dietetics. She almost let her credential lapse, but has stuck around to provide her voice and activism to our field.

Of note: We recorded this conversation prior to all the #Covid19 changes to US life, but included a note to address that in the beginning. Online Support for Covid-19: @Covid19EatingSupport, @MoeMotivate, and @ComamosJunxts
