The need to be perfect in front of workplace peers can contribute to social anxiety. When someone strives for perfection in social situations, they often fear being judged or criticized by others. This fear of negative evaluation can lead to heightened anxiety, as they worry about making even minor mistakes or not meeting the unrealistic standards they've set for themselves.

Perfectionism can also lead to a strong focus on performance. People may feel that they must excel in every aspect of social interaction, whether it's making a flawless presentation, having perfect conversations, or always appearing composed. This performance pressure can cause anxiety about measuring up to these self-imposed expectations.

Episode 152 traces the correlation between the desire to be meticulous and the anxiety it can create.
