This week I am so excited for you to meet my new friend Erika Nolan. I have been following Erika for awhile now on Instagram, and her work is right in alignment with what I do, so this conversation was very special to me. Many of you know that I spent much of my summer in the garden, growing and harvesting lots of produce and herbs, and Erika has inspired me the whole way. I can't wait for you to hear this conversation and get to know Erika. Here is a little bit about her and how she came to do the work that she is so passionate about...
Erika is a licensed landscape horticulturist and the founder of INSTAR, her holistic health and homestead consulting and education business. After spending 6 months volunteering in the Ecuadorian Amazon and then pursuing music in New York City, she got the devastating news that her mother, and best friend, had a brain tumor, soon followed by breast cancer. Erika then decided to return home to New Orleans where she ultimately made growing organic foods and connecting with nature her passion. Now her mission is to not only grow food organically and reconnect with nature, but to coach other people how to do it too.
