TW: It's Domestic Violence Awareness Month and I'm here with a (very important) message - how to safely share your story of domestic violence. Even if you have not experienced domestic violence, stick around - we all have a story to share and this can still apply to you and any negative experiences you have faced in the past.
For my regular listeners, please note this is a re-air. But it was just too powerful of a message to let sit in my archives.

We will discuss:

  • How to share your story safely
  • Speaking out about abuse
  • The benefits of speaking about your past history with abuse
  • Protecting yourself as a survivor of abuse
  • Advice for survivors of domestic violence
  • Sharing your past with others
  • How to know who you can trust with your story of your abusive relationship
  • Silence breeds shame - especially when healing from abuse
  • Empowering yourself to speak out against abuse
  • Talking about emotional abuse, mental abuse, financial abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, intimate partner violence, verbal abuse, etc.

Episodes and Articles Mentioned:

Whenever I talk about domestic violence, I like to include the hotline that you can call or text if you are in that situation. You can contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline by calling 1-800-799-SAFE or by texting “start” to 88788. You are not alone. And you do not have to go through this alone.
