Poem: I don't trust love
Manage episode 418261114 series 2933501
Dear Love, I donât trust you All the pain youâve put me through Yet, how much in all of that I grew When I ask, âshow me how to love unconditionallyâ You show me all that is not love How Iâve wandered around not feeling enough You taught me to put myself in another's shoes See through anotherâs eyes And it has me asking why Why did I cause pain to who I loved the most? My little self How Iâve dwelt in blame Going against the grain Iâve tied many sins that arenât mine to my name Iâve been afraid to be love Because when you are love Youâll see all that is not that Youâll see all that is lack Youâll see all that is sep ara tion Itâs your preparation An invitation saying Can you still choose love? Can you stand in who you are as a gust of wind tries to blow you away? Is it better to be love than to be right? What does it mean to be love when it feels so out of sight? Many questions in my mind
Itâs funny that I donât trust love And itâs funny how in that declaration Love came to me And whispered... "Take the pressure of your shoulders Love is not moving the boulders of others But showing them that, no matter what, they still belong That even when we, as human beings may do wrong We choose to remember that it is together that we are strong Different melodies, yet the same song" Isnât this love? Maybe this, I am safe to begin to trust.
