The Portland fog has fallen upon us and we’re kicking off this unintentionally hygge-themed episode with some autumnal hibernation topics (think: sleep, snacks, and meditation). Joining us this time around are Keeley Tillotson and Erika Welsh, best friends and co-founders of Portland-based, nut-butter centric brand, Wild Friends. We chat with these inspiring women about making nut butter fun, one wellness trend at a time.

Other things we chat about…

  • Alison kicks off the episode taking us on her journey to personal contemplativeness. She recently attended The Big Quiet and shares her experience in group meditation.
  • How to back out of plans with your friends without offending anyone.
  • Of course, Wild Friends! Their story is BFF mania: two childhood friends, turned college roommates, turned nut butter entrepreneurs. Here’s where you can find them on the Internet and Instagram (which Erika still manages herself, major kudos).
  • Can opposite personalities collaborate in the workplace? Learn more about Myers-Briggs, or take this free personality test (because who doesn’t love an online quiz?).
  • I (Jillian, speaking) have some trouble making smoothies with PB in them (my blender tends to get blocked up!). The solution: ORDER MATTERS. In your blender, add ingredients in order: liquids, dry goods (this is where the nut butter goes), leafy greens, fruits and veggies, ice and frozen ingredients.
  • Sleep and wellness are one in the same. Keeley’s sleeping tips include no screens before bed, a nice cup of tea, and a really, really long work of fiction. While Keeley recommends something in the science fiction category, Alison reco’s The Name of the Wind in the fantasy category, and I reco Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine in the regular old fiction category (not very long, but an enjoyable evening read).
  • Erika is all about that mind-gut connection. Have you ever tried elimination diets? Find out more about the intense GAPS diet she went on for a year to discover more about her gut health.
  • P.S. I think eye masks can really help block out the light if you’re overexposed to screen time and they help me (again, this is Jillian here!) fall asleep more soundly. I really love Slip but also this vegan alternative looks amazing too.
