Even though time is something we all get the exact same amount of each and every day, how come some people seem to have time to have so much impact and enjoy themselves while maybe it feels like your continuously short on time?

What kind of Lumberjack do you want to be?

Now this may seem like an odd question, because maybe you don't even want to be a lumberjack, but I used to love watching lumberjack competitions on TV. If you HAD to be a lumberjack would you rather be one that cuts down a few trees or the most in the shortest amount of time? (Assuming a sustainable and well tended forest of course)

If you want to be the kind of lumberjack who is the most efficient and gets the most done in the least time then this story about a lumberjack I once heard will resonate.

There once was a young lumberjack, who was so excited to be outside and working in the forest chopping down trees. He was so excited that after an 8 hour day of hard work, he managed to cut down 50 trees using an old school axe the first day (no chain saws in this story!). The most any lumberjack that day.

The next day he woke up earlier and intended to cut down even more trees! At the end of the day, even with putting in more time, he chopped down 37 trees the 2nd day. What? Surely must have been something with those trees, must have been a harder wood or thicker trunks. Certainly a fluke.

The third day our lumberjack was determined to do better, so woke up early, barely took a break for lunch, and worked till the sun went down. The result: 26 Trees cut the 3rd day. WTF? He put in more time and more effort and was getting LESS Results!

Feeling demoralized, he slept in and got to work late. One of the other lumberjacks, an old-timer, asked our friend what happened. After listening carefully, the old-timer asked, "When's the last time you sharpened your axe?"

"Sharpened my axe? Well, I haven't had time, been busy chopping down trees."

When was the last time you Sharpened your axe?

Now, I'm guessing you aren't a lumberjack, so you probably don't use an axe, but I'm guessing there is one thing you do use every day, no matter what you do, and that's use your mind. If you take the time to sharpen your mind, you'll be able to cut through the bullshit of life so you can spend your time wisely on what really matters and accomplish it efficiently.

How do I sharpen my mind?

Sharpening the mind is even simpler than sharpening an axe. To sharpen an axe you need an external tool, but the mind is self sharpening. All
