There are some things that are so baked into our culture that they can feel scary to even talk about… but we wouldn’t be Honest Women if we weren’t bold enough to talk about those things. Today, we explore Mommy Wine Culture: where it came from, how it impacts us, and where it might not be serving us.

Listen to learn more about:

  • How / Why / If Andrea & Jess do Dry January
  • Why shame makes it difficult to examine our drinking behavior
  • The origin of Mommy Wine Culture
  • Marketing of alcohol as an escape from the challenges of life
  • The history of using substances to deal with womens' distress (do NOT miss this!)
  • A few of the things that alcohol does *not* help us deal with

Plus, Jess gives an update on the dress she got stuck in; Andrea discovers that you *can* return alcohol to the liquor store if yor decide to become sober before you make special cocktails; and Jessica and Andrea nerd out about the history of substances being marketed to women instead of dealing with their real, actual problems. Were housewives in the 1950's really happy, or were they just f*ing high on valium? You'll have to listen to find out!
