Bernie Meehan, the inaugural guest on "I'm Going In," epitomizes resilience and commitment. A seasoned EMT since age 16, Bernie became one of Connecticut's youngest paramedics at 21. Rising through the ranks, he now serves as Deputy Fire Chief, renowned in Western Connecticut for fearlessly leading responses to challenging incidents. Unfazed by chaos, Bernie finds comfort in adversity, a quality underscored by his impactful roles at the L'Ambiance Plaza collapse in 1987 and the Sandy Hook School tragedy in 2012. Beyond countless emergency responses, Bernie co-founded the Connecticut CISD team, responding to over 400 mental health incidents, including 40 line-of-duty deaths.
