This episode is about Depression. Dr Mark Rowe is a Consultant Psychiatrist who has a special interest in managing mood disorders. His interest in mood disorders involves sub-typing depressive disorders and diagnosing accurately persistent mood disorders which may have failed to respond to previous treatments. Dr Rowe and I discuss what depression is, the mental health system and the way our society responds and reacts to mental illness. From the medicalisation of sadness to going to your local GP for a quick fix, Dr Rowe reasons with me about the complexity of depression and how best to support people that present in different ways.
