In this episode of the Mind Body Podcast, host Maria welcomes composer and pianist Barron Ryan. They discuss Baron's unique approach to music, which he describes with the tagline "classic meets cool."
This represents his blending of traditional and contemporary musical styles to create a genre-defying sound. Barron emphasizes the importance of not fitting into a conventional musical box, allowing for more creative expression and the blending of various influences.
Barron shares his personal challenges and the joys of navigating the music industry's expectations. He highlights the need for adaptability in presenting music to audiences who may have predefined genre preferences, making the journey both rewarding and complex.
Additionally, Barron talks about his latest project, an illustrated storybook for adults titled "Honey, If It Wasn't for You," based on a song he co-wrote with a deceased songwriter, which explores themes of love, legacy, and creative expression.
The conversation also touches on broader themes of authenticity, personal growth, and the transformative power of storytelling in music and life. Barron and Maria reflect on how personal stories and artistic expressions resonate and connect with others, emphasizing authenticity over conformity.
