The River of Life, Episode #12 with co-host Spencer Ploessl.

If you have never listened to our podcast before, I will give a brief overview: my varying co-hosts flip a coin that decides who asks the first question. We then go back and forth and anything goes, the deeper the better. And when I say “our podcast”, I mean it, this is not my show, this show is our show, this show is about all of us.

In this episode #12 of the Lies Between Us show, I fire first with, “What was your biggest loss in 2020?”.

Spencer explains how his biggest loss last year became one of the biggest opportunities in his life so far.

The issue comes up about Spencer newly living without most of the popular social media channels, a possible challenge for the Independent Marketing & Creative Design Consultant that he is. Spencer has been on a tear lately, shedding some unwanted practices like drinking, being plugged in too much, excessive interior refrigerator inspection, overplanning, and the hamster wheel of life during the rat race.

I answer Spencer and explain the biggest lie I have ever told myself, while Spencer discusses rediscovering the understanding of personal wealth.

I ask Spencer to address a few top things that businesses do wrong or right with their branding, marketing, and digital effectiveness. I chime in with my opinion about the value of being current, fresh, and relevant and Spencer explains the challenge in trying to be everything to everyone online.

Spencer asks about one of the top tools from my life toolbox, aka my CoolShit ToolKit, and I explain the value of my personal documented values. I ask Spencer if he has been able to effectively leave the unwanted pieces of himself behind as he plows forward.

Planning, making plans, planning for change, and operating from a position of no plan are all discussed along with some good detail and examples. I introduce the notion of when it is not always clear what to do sometimes, we should maybe then lead with what NOT to do.

Spencer and I revisit the idea of our two certainties: death and change, and how the two might be more closely aligned than we might think.

I simply ask Spencer to define the word intention and he goes deep, quickly.

Spencer is a cyclist, a paddler, a buddy, a hotshot web builder, and a good dude. Spencer built my website in 2020 and watching someone execute on their special skill is like being at the orchestra, beauty defined. Spencer lives in Minneapolis and you can find him on LinkedIn- Spencer and at www.spencerploessl.com
