Erin in her own words:
Erin Howe is a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist in the San Diego area and is the President of the California Chapter of the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA.org/CCADTA.org). Her work has accumulated over 9 years of practice working in residential treatment facilities, substance rehabilitation, detox facilities and in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospital settings. In addition to these, Erin has worked as a dance therapist with veterans struggling with chemical dependency and ptsd, at day programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as in group counseling and in her Southern California-based private practice thesunshinetherapies.com. Erin has experience working virtually with individuals and groups through the United States. Her training in improvisational dance and focus on a person-centered approach invites clients of all backgrounds to feel empowered on their journey.
After being diagnosed with, fighting against, and healing from Stage 2 breast cancer, Erin was invited to present her work, A Mindful Approach to Ego Detachment: Using the Body’s knowledge to Reduce Countertransference and Prejudice, at the 2019 American Dance Therapy Association National Conference in Miami, Florida. Erin continues to find ways to explore healing within her own body as a way to intuitively guide her clients towards their own inherent healing abilities. Throughout Erin’s career, she finds passion in supporting emerging dance/movement therapists expand and find their style in the field. During the pandemic, she created a company supporting dance therapists find contract work and continues to seek ways to expand the field of Dance/Movement Therapy.
