Good health and proper nutrition are important for new mothers to gain strength and promote recovery after giving birth. In this podcast episode, Caitlin is joined by clinical nutritionist Meagan, who is currently 37-weeks Pregnant. Meagan is the founder of Maternal Essentials, a whole food nutrient rich supplement for breastfeeding mothers. One of the things they talk about is Meagan’s postpartum journey with her first child, who is now a toddler, and how she became so passionate about postpartum recovery in terms of nutrition and breastfeeding. Meagan offers tips on what types of meals promote recovery and breastfeeding during the postpartum period and how she came up with the maternal essentials supplement for postpartum recovery. She also shares some traditional Southeast Asian postpartum healing practices, particularly those influenced by Chinese culture. They also discuss some common nutrient deficiencies observed during pregnancy and the signs and symptoms associated with each deficiency. And how proper diet and nutrition can reduce your risk of postnatal depression and anxiety. For more tips on how you can support your pregnancy journey and postpartum recovery through diet and nutrition, visit Meagan’s website https://maternalessentials.com.au/ or follow her on social media.
