In this episode, I share my thoughts and reflections on the experience of pain, and how isolating it can be for those who experience it on a constant basis. Sometimes our thoughts can take us to a place where we feel unlike everyone around us, who seem to be carefree and full of energy. And we can feel as if we must hold our feelings deep inside as no one wants to hear about it, they don't understand it, and we don't want to bring people down. I share my views on how pain is a shared human experience that we all have at one time or another, but is ahuman experience that we often experience alone. But we are not alone in our pain. I discuss how the experience of pain can be different for everyone, which may lead to the lack of understanding in what we may be going through; and how our thoughts can play tricks on us, and allowing our thoughts about our pain, including how we think others react, can consume us and often make the pain experience worse. I share my thoughts on a few tools that may help us start to think about our pain differently, or at least to help us become more aware of those thoughts that can affect us and our experience of it; as well as some suggestions for finding ways to release your feelings about your pain - sharing your feelings in a supportive, non-judgmental manner is, in my view, an important way to help us navigate the pain experience, and maybe find a path toward managing it better.
A separate meditation for those experiencing pain is being released with this episode.
I welcome you to join me.
