Forgiveness clears a path so that love can thrive. It cuts down the thick weeds of pain and ego so that we may ultimately find freedom.

So come inside and find your breath.

Letting your body relax deeply into its rhythm,

As you follow the air going in,

And going out.

Let that circular motion of your breathing relax you,

Detach you from your thoughts,

And rest inside within that special place of peace.

PAUSE…

Oprah said, “Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could have been any different.”

PAUSE…

As you hear those words, let yourself sit in what may come up.

PAUSE…

Is there someone you need to forgive?

PAUSE…

Imagine them in front of you,

Holding your outstretched hands.

If this image brings up fear or pain for you, take a deep breath in and know you are safe here.

Imagine that past that you’ve wished were different,

And then just breathe,

Feeling the air cleansing you with each inhale,

And releasing the pain, the memories and the fear with each exhale.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

PAUSE…

Now imagine yourself looking up into the eyes of the person in front of you,

And hear yourself say,

I forgive you.

I forgive you.

I forgive you.

LONG PAUSE…

Notice the lightness in your body,

The lightness of your soul.

And as you look up, you see the only rays of light beaming in front of you.

You’ve let go.
