Stress can be a truly debilitating factor in our modern lives. Do you just keep soldiering on, or do you have some methods or techniques for mitigating stress? Pete Williams has years of practice serving clients and supporting the management of stress physiology and behavioural change.
Guest biography:
Pete Williams has degrees in exercise physiology and Medical Science and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and as a graduate of the Institute for Functional Medicine (2004) he was one of the first to be awarded the Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner status (2013).

Episode 9 delves into the area of stress physiology and how this impacts health, exercise and lifestyle. Working in central London, Pete has considerable experience in supporting clients as they seek to recover from the damage that stress can have on the body. We discuss:

  • primary physiology behind the stress response
  • common intrinsic and extrinsic stressors in our modern environment
  • identifying the stress burden upon a client
  • is there a tipping point where stress exceeds the ability to recover?
  • how to identify the root cause of stress-related dysfunction
  • top strategies for supporting the management of stress and its effects
