In this episode you'll learn about how common it can be to experience shame in the service experience and techniques that determine whether it will be a great ally or a terrible enemy.
What do you picture when I say the word "shame"? Perhaps it's that cartoonish display of someone shrinking into a corner, mousy and red-faced. Maybe there's a wagging finger from an authority, bullying us into being embarrassed about something. Shame is so much more than that.
Inside:

  • How shame is a universal human experience that gets especially agitated in the service role.
  • Why shame is usually experienced by people who possess a great deal of compassion, care and other valuable service traits.
  • How we don't need to erase feelings of shame to free ourselves of its grip - we just need to change our relationship to it.
  • The relationship of shame to tribal belonging and self-worth.
  • The difference between feeling something and telling ourselves a story about it.
  • Self-compassion techniques to hack that vicious inner authority that bullies us every time we make mistakes.
