Today we’re talking about the grief that we face when having to say goodbye to the unconditional love of a pet.

If you’re an animal lover, you know that rarely do our beloved pets live as long we do. And at some point, we may come face to face with the tough decision of when to let them go and free them of their pain and suffering. Our pets are a special part of our family and such a big part of our lives, which makes this one of the most difficult and painful experiences that we can go through.

Those decisions that we end up having to make at the end of an animal's life are grueling, and it's never easy to say goodbye. But, having just recently lost our dear dog, Wikky, I can wholeheartedly say that to have those final moments be spent at home and with family by his side made this time as beautiful as a painful experience could possibly be.

Today, I’m joined by Elizbeth Allen, who is an author, poet, animal lover, educator on end-of-life care for animals and their people, a vibrational cellular therapist specializing in grief relief, and a licensed spiritual counselor. She joins me today to discuss end-of-life planning for our animal companions, the advantages of choosing in-home euthanasia, and the grieving process that comes with losing a pet.

My daughter, Erin Shaw, also joins me today for the release of our brand new segment on Change It Up Radio called Rut Busters! She will join us each week to share unique challenges to help us bust our winter COVID ruts and get our creativity and energy flowing just in time for spring! Today, Erin shares a simple but powerful challenge for a new way to change it up and shift from autopilot to being more present.
