Today’s guest on the Rebel Health Coach podcast is Dr. Michael Biamonte, a founder of the Biamonte Center for Clinical Nutrition and co-creator of the Bio-Sybernetics computer software that can study blood work, mineral tests, and other lab tests to determine imbalances in the body. Dr. Biamonte has over 30 years of experience as a practitioner and holds a doctorate of naturopathy and is a New York state-certified clinical nutritionist. He’s also the author of The Candida Chronicles, which we’re going to discuss.

Candida is a microorganism, a yeast that converts itself into a fungus that occurs naturally in the body of most mammals and birds. In order to keep Candida under control, the body relies on probiotics, which are part of the body’s immune response and help absorb vitamins, synthesize vitamins, and fight off bacteria and parasites. Anything that compromises the probiotics can lead to Candida growing out of control. Symptoms of Candida vary and can range from fatigue, brain fog, digestive issues, rashes, asthma, and headaches.

Candida is caused by antibiotics, hormones, and other drugs, as well as a diet that is high in starch and sugar. It is especially problematic during the holiday season when people are consuming a lot of beer, sugary foods, and other unhealthy foods. To avoid Candida, people should not abuse antibiotics and other drugs and should take over-the-counter antifungals and probiotics. The most accurate way to test for Candida is to look for chemicals that it releases in the urine. Bio cybernetics can also be used to analyze tests. The standard American diet can aggravate Candida, and when treating it, one must use antifungals and rotate them every four or seven days in order to avoid drug resistance. Lastly, probiotics should not be taken too early, as they can cause a negative reaction in people with leaky gut syndrome.
