Are you already day dreaming of fall? This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young Medical Minute. Fall is headed our way and for most of the country that means changing leaf colors, boots, and pumpkin everything! Well, I have some good news for you. Turns out, pumpkin has some great health benefits! Pumpkin seeds, juices, and even leaves are full of vitamins and minerals. It can help with eye health, blood pressure, protect against asthma, and heart disease. Not only is it good for your health, but it can also be stored for up to 2 months in a cool, dark place (if it hasn’t been carved yet). Be sure to stay away from the canned pie mixes if possible because they contain high amounts of sugar and other additives. What are you waiting for? Enjoy all of the pumpkin you can this year. This Stay Young Medical Minute is brought to you by Executive Medicine of Texas, a leader in preventative and proactive medicine.
