Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America. And yet, it’s one of the most preventable...through exercise! Listen to this shocking fact: Treating a patient with heart disease costs more than $20,000 per year, per person. That means that the country could save almost $40 billion a year by just getting about 25% more Americans to exercise moderately. Those numbers are staggering!

Which is why I am thrilled to introduce you to a doctor who knows a lot about the heart. Dr. Aaron Baggish, M.D. He is the Director of the Cardiovascular Performance Program at the Mass General Hospital Heart Center in Boston. He’s also a doctor who knows a lot about the heart specifically as it relates to sports. Dr. Baggish is a medical director for the Boston Marathon and serves as team cardiologist for the New England Patriots, the Boston Bruins, the New England Revolution, the US Men's and Women's Soccer teams, and the US Rowing team. And if you have a favorite sports team that's not listed, don’t hold that against him! You’re still going to want to hear what he has to say about his ongoing research which focuses on heart function and heart disease in athletic individuals.

In this episode, you'll discover...

  • Is too much exercise bad for your heart?
  • What types of food are best for a strong heart?
  • What types of tests should young athletes get before they participate in high intensity sports?
