Episode #105
This week on What The Fat I talk with the brilliant MD, Dr. Paul Saladino. Dr. Saladino trained at the University of Arizona with a focus on Integrative Medicine. He went on to residency at the University of Washington in psychiatry and is a certified Functional Medicine practitioner (IFMCP) through the Institute for Functional Medicine. His interests include the autoimmune basis of psychiatric illness, connections between the microbiome and mental health, and nutritional biochemistry. In this episode, we dive deep into the benefits of the carnivore diet and discuss topics such as the ethics behind consuming meat, why we don’t actually need fiber or plants in the human diet, and how to get all of the nutrients you need from eating an animal nose to tail.
Enjoy the Show!
Takeaways
Paul has always been passionate about finding and understanding the root cause of his patients problems and is fascinated by the role nutrition plays in disease. He believes that if done correctly, the carnivore diet can be a great tool to utilize for optimal health and that a plant based diet could actually do more harm than good.
