Researchers have identified a link between inflammation, stress and depression. Researchers over the last thirty years have noticed that patients with pain often have depression. Many studies have measured the levels of inflammation in patients with depression. We know now from these laboratory finds that inflammation causes depression and the depression does not respond to drugs. Lowering the levels of inflammation often helps resolve the depression.
