Most people want to elevate their nutrition, but don’t know where to start. My guest this week is my good friend Jennie Waegelein, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who specializes in functional medicine. Jennie and I discuss our shared belief to just keep it simple! Health, Movement, Patterns, Simplified choices and why it’s important to know your numbers.

Bio:

Jennie is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who specializes in functional medicine. She received her Master's in Nutrition from Pace University and received training through the Institute of Functional Medicine to round out her integrative approach to health. She believes in a food-first philosophy and trusts that health should be fun, never stressful. She believes in creating small shifts daily to achieve optimal health and wellness. As a Certified Yoga Teacher, she focuses not only on food and nutrition, but the power of the mind-body connection as it relates to health.

In This Episode We Discuss:

  • Dietetics, nutrition, functional medicine
  • How a trip to Spain as a teenager resulted in auto-immune issues and consequently a visit with a forward thinking Doctor
  • How far the interest in nutrition has come!
  • The challenging marketing noise with groceries
  • Working backwards from goals to design what is right for you
  • Bringing awareness to how you are feeling
  • Connecting the dots and finding the patterns
  • Personalizing your journey to help you feel the measures of success
  • The benefits of knowing your own personal data
  • What elements in your blood work give you good information
  • How your blood work can show you how your body handles stress
  • Understanding the different kinds of Cholesterol
  • Take the pressure off your health goals and just keep it simple
  • Speak to yourself in a way that is encouraging: maybe speak movement instead of exercise
